Prof. João Eurico Fonseca is the Dean of the Lisbon School of Medicine, University of Lisbon, Portugal. He is also group leader at the Instituto de Medicina Molecular and Director of the Rheumatology Department of the North Lisbon University Hospital Centre. The 3 institutions integrate the Lisbon Academic Medical Centre.

His research focuses on markers for diagnosis, prognosis and treatment response in rheumatic diseases, with a special interest on synovial tissue. Prof. Fonseca is a member of The Editorial Board of several medical journals and has authored more than 300 scientific papers.
